Web Roll
Privacy Policy
Web Roll is a personal RSS reader for Android. Your feeds, reading state, and saved articles are stored on your device. We do not operate a user account system or a first-party cloud sync server.
1. Who we are
Web Roll (“the App”) is developed and published by Immrpat (“we”, “us”, or “our”). For privacy questions, contact us at pat23.w@gmail.com.
2. Information we store on your device
The App stores the following information locally on your device:
- Feed sources you add (site name, feed URL, favicon URL, and related settings)
- Article metadata from those feeds (titles, summaries, links, image URLs, publish times)
- Your reading and saved status for articles
- A simple preference noting whether you completed onboarding
This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the App or clear its data. If Android backup is enabled on your device, local App data may be included in your device backup.
3. Information transmitted over the network
To provide the App’s features, Web Roll connects over HTTPS to:
- Websites and RSS/Atom feeds you choose — to discover feeds, refresh articles, and load images
- Article pages — when you open an article in the in-app reader (WebView) or in your system browser
- Google advertising and consent services — to show ads and manage consent where required (see below)
- Google ML Kit — may download on-device machine-learning model files used for image cropping
Requests identify the App with a User-Agent such as WebRoll/1.0.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. In-app article reader (WebView)
When you read an article inside the App, the publisher’s webpage may load scripts, cookies, and other technologies controlled by that publisher (and its partners). Those third parties’ practices are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
5. Advertising
The App shows interstitial ads using Google AdMob. Where required, we use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent for ads and related data use.
Google and its partners may collect or process device identifiers (such as advertising ID), IP address, and interaction data to deliver and measure ads, subject to your consent choices and Google’s policies. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob & privacy.
6. On-device image processing
The App may use Google ML Kit Face Detection on images already downloaded for articles, to crop photos more thoughtfully around faces. This processing runs on your device. The App does not use your device camera and does not request camera permission.
7. Data we do not collect
We do not require you to create an account. We do not operate a first-party analytics, crash-reporting, or cloud database service that receives your feed list or reading history.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Your choices
- Remove sources or clear the App’s data in Android settings to delete local App data
- Uninstall the App to remove it and its local storage from your device
- Manage ad-related consent through the consent form when shown, and through your device advertising settings
- Limit which sites the App contacts by only adding sources you trust
10. International processing
Third-party services you interact with through the App (publishers, Google AdMob, and related Google services) may process data in other countries according to their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
